Blepharoplasty

Eyelid surgery is a procedure to remove the excess skin and fat pads from the upper and lower eyelids. In the upper eyelids, the surgeon will make the incision in the fold of the lid. In the lower eyelid, he will make the incision in a natural crease below the eyelashes. In this way the patient avoids the temporary inconvenience caused by the healing of a skin incision. Some bruising and swelling occurs in the upper and lower eyelids and continue for several days (7-10 days).

Upper blebharoplasty

In our oriental people we have to create the fold of the eyelid that is difference from blepharoplasty in caucasians. This type of surgery is very common in our service.

The procedure is approximately one hour . The operation will be performed under the local anesthesia or combined with sedative agents, if indicated. The stitches will be removed 3-7 days after surgery.

Lower blebharoplasty

Normally in the lower eyelids, the surgeon will make the incision in a natural crease below the eyelashes. Then, the surgeon separates the skin from underlying fatty tissue and muscle, removes excess fat, and often trims sagging skin and muscles. The incision is then closed with very fine sutures.

In cases, where with only fat has to be removed from the lower eyelids, the surgeon makes the incision on the inner surface of the eyelid. In this way the patient avoids the temporary inconvenience caused by the healing of a skin incision.

Duration of procedure: approximately 1;30 hrs

Type of anesthesia: eyelid surgery is usually performed using local anesthesia and light intraveneous sedative.
